Campground software comparison · 2026

Campspot, CamperWatch, Hipcamp, ResNexus, and Camplyst — compared honestly.

Each platform serves a different purpose. Knowing which problem each one actually solves saves you time and prevents expensive switching costs later.

3 questions to ask any platform before signing up

1
Who processes the payments — and are there restrictions?
Some platforms require you to use their integrated payment processor. Before signing, ask whether you can use Stripe or Square, what the processing rate is, and whether you can switch processors later without losing your data.
2
Who owns your guest data?
On marketplace-first platforms, the booking relationship is between the camper and the platform. You receive a payout but not the guest's contact details — those belong to the platform. Before signing, ask: "Can I export my complete guest list including email addresses at any time, for free?"
3
What happens when you want to switch?
Switching reservation software is one of the most disruptive changes a campground can make. Guest history may be locked in. Rate structures are hard to migrate. Ask for a data export before you sign — not after.
